Gambling and the Military
Military personnel have a higher prevalence rate than the general population, in part because of the high stress, 24/7 environment they work in. And this increased prevalence rate carries over to veterans.
Research has shown that veterans being treated for PTSD are as much as nearly 8 times as likely as the general population to be current problem or pathological gamblers (with current rates of up to 17% and lifetime prevalence rates of up to 29%!).1
