The
California Council on Problem Gambling
has recently completed 30 hours of
classroom education for 26 counselors
and others who are working towards
certification in the field of Problem
Gambling. There are still additional
requirements that must be completed
to earn the distinguished California
Certified Gambling Counselor Certification
(CCGC) designation, but it is
expected that most of the participants
will earn certification in the near
future.
The
educational phase of the program was
completed under contract to the County
of Riverside and funded by the California
Indian Gaming Special Distribution
Fund, courtesy of the Pechanga Band
of Luiseno Indians. Phase two of the
program is expected to begin soon
and optimism that Riverside County
will have more than 20 new counselors
certified in problem gambling by the
middle of next year.
